Serena Winters is currently the sideline reporter for the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Bally Sports Ohio. Previously, Winters worked as the sideline reporter for the Philadelphia 76ers, on NBC Sports Philadelphia, where she’s also filled in as the play-by-play and the color analyst. Whether she’s interviewing Donovan Mitchell after a game, chatting with Jimmy Butler about his biggest fears, hopping in an IndyCar, or learning how to curl, she always makes sure to have a good time.
During her time at NBC, Serena also wrote features, hosted pre-game shows, and filled in on Phillies broadcasts.
Although she loves all sports, after being a scrappy point guard herself, basketball has always been her first love.
Serena came to NBC Sports Philadelphia via NBC Sports Northwest, where she hosted ‘The Bridge,’ a daily prime time sports TV show.
Prior to her roles with NBC, she was the lead reporter for Lakers Nation and part of the on-air talent team at Spectrum SportsNet.
Serena’s career in sports journalism started as a broadcaster for 91.9FM in Santa Barbara where she transitioned from sports updates to both play-by-play and color commentary for the UC Santa Barbara men’s basketball team. She interned for the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the UCSB media relations department while she attended the university, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Serena then went on to co-host a live one-hour sports talk show for The Santa Barbara Channels, where she often frequented Friday Night Fights, interviewing boxers at Chumash Casino.
Her internships continued over on the set of Jim Rome Is Burning, which at the time was broadcasted on ESPN, as well as in the social media department of FUEL TV. Between interviewing surfers and prepping elements for Jim Rome’s TV show, Serena provided her analysis on The Santa Barbara Channel’s broadcast of the West Coast Pro Basketball League, as the color analyst.
Upon finishing her internships, Serena began contributing to Lakers Nation, with a goal to take online video to a new level.
Serena was hired on full-time with Lakers Nation in 2012, assuming her role as their reporter and on-air host. During her tenure, she uploaded over 3,000 videos with over 50 million views and 175,000 subscribers with content ranging from exclusive interviews with NBA legends (like Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to name a few) to daily practice updates, post-game reports and special features . You could also watch her on Spectrum SportsNet: Access Sportsnet and Lakeshow, as well as frequenting the radio waves of ESPN radio and Fox Sports radio, even appearing on SportsCenter.
Serena has a passion for the evolving world of sports journalism, determined to be at the forefront of it’s change, delivering quality video content to devoted fans and sports consumers, all around the world.
Other interests and hobbies: being a mom, perfect cappuccinos, traveling, working out, food, golf, stick shift cars, hiking, reading and anything outdoors. She’ll try to tell you that she’s tried to tone down her competitiveness over the years, but if you know her, you know that’s not true.
Very Impressed with Serena’s insightful contributions to the conversations. She often picks up on the most important factors to discuss and presents those topics to the public with a very nuanced analysis that is always spot on. I think she us already one of the best reporters I have seen . .
Very kind of you. Thank you!

I am a Senior in High school, die hard laker fan, and an aspiring sports broadcaster. Serena is one of my biggest inspirations and I hope to one day be in the same position as her! Any advice you can give a young adult hungry for the broadcasting world? Keep up the good work š
Thanks for your comment Rianna! Know more than just broadcasting. Know how to write, edit footage, work a camera, produce a video, SEO basics, social, etc. The more you know, the more useful you are to other people and the more opportunities will come your way. And, when the going gets tough, and you wonder if you were really cut out for the business, just know that all of us that are here now, have been in your shoes and have felt what you’re feeling. Oh, and be nice to people š All of the connections you make along the way are a big part of your journey.
One more tip: Start with building your own blog/website. Start writing on it and creating content. This will put you a step above the rest and is an invaluable learning experience.
Wishing you the best along your career path!
– Serena

What a Smart, Friendly Young Lady. You will become a Premiere Broadcaster because You have educated yourself with the Golden Rule. Stay nice! Daniel in Diamond Bar
Very impressive! I think you are going great work!
Hello Serena Iām a sixers fan and I just wanted to say welcome. Hope you stay here along time
So glad she has joined the Sixers team. She’s so direct with her questions and smart with follow-ups. I fear she won’t be here long– she’s #toogood for a local market reporter.
I’m a long time 76ers fan and I find your courtside interviews to be informative, and it’s obvious that you know enough about the game that the players always seem comfortable with their answers. You’re a pleasure to the broadcast team, welcome to Philly, Sernea!
Hi Jim! I realized I never responded to this. Better late then never right? Just want to say thank you for your support!
You are very pretty Serena
My brother and I,both in our 70s, are Sixers fans.Did you play basketball and if so where?

Serena makes the most insightful observations. Her smile could make the worst news bearable.
